Life in Dongguan & Susanna from Italy

I love China!
Hello, my name is Susanna, and I come from Italy. I came here to see what China looks like, to discover Chinese food, which it’s totally different from my country (Italy). I’m so happy that I have the opportunity to live in Dongguan for 4 months with the help of Love Au Pair agency.

My host family is helpful to me. I can experience and have a realistic view of China, I can see how Chinese life really looks like in China. My host family has a 2-year-old girl, who is very cute. Since they have a baby sister at home, most of my job is teaching the kid English and keep company with her.

I have a good time in Dongguan, and my host family gives me the chance to experience new food such as turtle soup, snake meat, durian( smelly fruit). I’m in love with Chinese culture, like an afternoon tea party. Especially, staying here during the Chinese Spring Festival, which is the most important festival in China. It’s incredible to see how Chinese celebrate it...

I love kids, and I find the Chinese ones super cute :)
This is how it all started...

..this is the community where I live

How is life in Dongguan?
Travelling to new places and taking beautiful pictures are really attracted to me. I have been to the United States, and I also have other experiences for taking care of the baby, so here are some useful tips that I want to share with you.

Dongguan is very close to Shenzhen, which is only 15 minutes by high-speed train. The price of the ticket is 39¥ ( 5€ really cheap), the alternative of choice will be a slow train, It’s cheaper but much more time-consuming (15¥ for 40 minutes).

How do you departure Shenzhen from Dongguan? You can take the subway(Line 5) to the north railway station. My advice is that try to be there earlier because you will need to get your ticket 40 minutes before your train departure.

Once you arrive at the Dongguan railway station, you can take a taxi or take the subway to the city centre. There is just only one line of the tube to the city centre, you will never lose! ( the same way for leaving from Dongguan to Shenzhen).

There is another convenient transportation which can help you if there are some places that subway cannot reach out. Sharing a bike is everywhere in here. You can use it as a sports facility to do exercise, and it is another cheap option.

I often travel to Shenzhen so I can join our Au Pair activities. On the picture with my friend Emma from Australia.
A modern city with a historical vibes
Due to Dongguan is very similar to Shenzhen. You will never be bored in this city. You can go to the park, see the botanical garden, go shopping, enjoying the food in a fancy restaurant, tons of Karaokes, movie theatres, and gyms, etc.

I have already been here for three months, I’m so glad that the Love Au Pair help me find family here. I obsessed with this county, It is so beautiful and lovely, there are still many things waiting for me to explore, I can’t wait to see it...
