4 months in Taizhou & Italian Au Pair Chris

With my host kid
Hello everyone, my name is Cristiana and I'm a 20 y.o Italian girl. I'm a second-year university student and for this reason, I wanted to make the best out of this school year by taking the chance of being an au pair in China for 4 months.

Before this experience, I've never been away from home for more than 2 weeks. But when this chance showed up, I couldn't just stand there and waste it. I wanted to experience something completely different, but at the same time that I knew, I would enjoy. So this is how everything started...

On January 11th I left from Italy and after what seemed an endless journey I finally reached my host family in Taizhou, Zhejiang.

Taizhou is located on the east coast of the country and south of Shanghai.
It's a really big city, in which among all the shops and skyscrapers, you can also find old times areas with unique views and landscapes.

Those were the ones I loved the most, there's something about them that just fascinates no matter what. I believe Taizhou has just the right amount of modern and ancient aspects, which really blend perfectly together.

Taizhou, Zhejiang

Just the right amount of modern and ancient aspects.
In my 4 months stay, I actually chose not to take free time to spend around the city for 2 simple reasons:

1) I didn't know the language at all, which no matter how you see it, sometimes just affect this kind of experiences. This still should not stop you from trying to wander around, if you are confident, people in Taizhou are really nice and I'm sure that would help if you would ask for.

2) Another reason was that, aside from my host family, I didn't have the chance to meet other people of my age. Taizhou, regardless of being a big city provided with everything you could need, it isn't one of the main tourists stops.

Therefore it could be hard to find other foreigners. As mentioned before, I didn't know the language so it was hard to communicate even with people living in the city. This was what I encountered, but goes without saying that someone who's been studying Chinese or know the basics for conversations, or doesn't care about finding company during the stay won't find this problem.

As you can tell, I am really into Asian culture. However, next time I would probably choose a bigger city :)

It was challenging I believe that every experience it's different because we're all different and face situations in our own ways. As a matter of fact, I can say I liked my stay in Taizhou. It was challenging but satisfying at the same time. I discovered new things about myself and also learnt things that you just can't find in books, but can only experience directly.

Local Park was one of my favourite places in Taizhou

I'd also love to thank all over again my host family. They treated me like a family member and made this experience one of a kind. I won't ever be able to thank them enough for everything they've done for me.

The same goes for Love Au Pair Agency. They made me feel safe, no matter the fact it was my first experience so far away from home. They are reliable and extremely kind.

I'm glad I trusted them, not only I had an amazing experience but I also found a friend in there. So in the end, I can say I found a second family a lovely true friend.

Wish your experience will be just as beautiful as mine, if not even more.

All the best,
